Over December, we need your support to raise £12,000 to help young people facing challenges at school, at home or in the community. Together we can give them a fresh start in 2015 - learning new skills, growing in confidence and fulfilling their potential. Here is a story about how Romsey Mill provides hope, transformation and second chances for young people:
16 year old Sienna* gave birth to her baby Albert* at 28 weeks – he only weighed 2Ib 7oz and spent the early months of his life in intensive care. Working alongside other health and social care professionals, Romsey Mill’s Young Parent’s Worker, Judith Cork, supported Sienna who was struggling to bond with and care for a premature baby. Albert was discharged from hospital, and Sienna, Albert and Sienna’s partner (who was not Albert’s dad) moved to Sienna’s mum’s house. This arrangement was too much of a strain for everyone and a family rift ensued, leaving Sienna homeless and the victim of abuse from her partner. Throughout this time, Judith and a team of other professionals supported Sienna, who now has her own flat, and Albert is a smiley, chatty 14 month old.
