Savannah* attended a group for young women that was aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle – focusing on physical fitness, nutrition, good mental health, avoiding substance/ alcohol abuse and sexual health. Through this group, Savannah got to know youth workers from Romsey Mill, and sought out their help when it came to her tumultuous relationship with her mother. Savannah then joined our ‘Women of Influence’ group (promoting positive female role models) and a boxing programme for young women.
Savannah excelled at boxing – her ability led to her being invited to train at a local club. She now trains other young women, and is planning for a career in the navy by studying Uniformed Services at Cambridge Regional College. Savannah says “If I didn’t see Romsey Mill workers as much as I did, I probably wouldn’t have turned out as I have…I wouldn’t have got the GCSEs I have or the same respect for myself and others.”
