Twelve Days of Christmas 2015 - a story for the eleventh day

< Back to listing

Two 16 year old girls, Lucy and Jessica*, have been attending our alternative education programme since the beginning of year 10. When they first attended they were low in self-belief and aspirations. Over the past year they have achieved Arts Award and Jamie Oliver cooking skills qualifications, and been part of a sex and relationships course and self-esteem course.

They also went on a residential to the Lake District which involved facing personal challenges, taking them well out of their comfort zone. The girls have been fantastic throughout and are now taking a lead as the eldest in the alternative education group. They both now want to help other young people in their community, so have started volunteering with a new youth club - one of the girls has said she now wants to be a Youth Worker when she’s older.

#GiveHope to young people and #UnwrapPotential this Christmas by raising £18,000 in December:

  • text MILL12 (plus the amount you want to give) to 70070
  • send cash or a cheque (payable to Romsey Mill) to Romsey Mill, Hemingford Road, Cambridge, CB1 3BZ

Thank you!
