Today, in the city of Cambridge and the surrounding area, the potential in many young lives is being stifled.
Romsey Mill helps young people, children and families to learn new skills, we give them safe spaces in which to grow and offer hope for their future.
This December, as part of our Christmas Appeal, we are sharing the voices of some people who are keen speak out about Romsey Mill's impact on young lives as we seek to give hope and unwrap potential.
Read what Valene has to say:
A third of children growing up in poverty in Cambridgeshire achieve a good level of development in Early Years.
Valene is a Pre-school assistant at Romsey Mill Pre-School, which was recently rated as ‘Outstanding’ (Ofsted, 2016).
“Before working here, I never realised what a broad range of programmes and services Romsey Mill runs for local families. There is Stay and Play, Under 25s group, courses for parents while their children are in Pre-School, Antenatal group."
"I guess you could say our families’ ‘Romsey Mill journey’ starts before their babies are even born. By the time the children are old enough for Pre-School, most parents are well established in our Romsey Mill community."
"What I love about our Pre-School is that, as a team, we create such a warm, nurturing environment. That’s not just for the children. Parents need nurturing too, especially if they are leaving their child for the first time. Parents and children need a lot of reassuring."
"Romsey Mill Pre-School provides a great atmosphere, provides child-lead education where the needs of each child are addressed. It is such a happy family. The Pre-School is just part of the work of Romsey Mill but we aim to give every child the best start possible and to support their parents on their journey wherever we can.“
This December, Romsey Mill needs your support to raise vital funds as part of our Christmas Appeal, to help us in our work to provide hope, transformation and second chances for local young lives.
Will you help us give hope and unwrap potential?
